Rev. Dr. Terry Leonard Henry is the senior pastor of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Wilmington, North Carolina. He is the son of Cora Lee Henry and the late Willie H. Henry of Ivanhoe, North Carolina. He preached his initial sermon at his home church, Royals Chapel Missionary Baptist, in Ivanhoe, North Carolina where he received his license and ordination under the pastorate of the late Reverend R. W. Lowe.
He is married to the former Jacqueline Bell of Mount Olive, North Carolina. They have two children, O’Bryant and Bethany, and two granddaughters, Anisa and Adrina.
Pastor Henry began his college education at North Carolina State University. He is a graduate of International Seminary in Plymouth, Florida where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Religious Education. He earned his Master of Arts degree in Christian Education from Campbell University’s School of Divinity in Buies Creek, North Carolina, and a Doctorate of Divinity from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, in Preaching: from the Study to the Pulpit.
In October 2004, he was elected Moderator of the Middle District Missionary Baptist Association and served a total of five years. Pastor Henry has served as a Chaplain Associate at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington.
Pastor Henry’s ministry has taken him to Israel to trace the footsteps of Jesus; Germany, Prague, Czechoslovakia, and Switzerland to trace the route of Martin Luther during the Great Reformation; Nairobi Africa and Athens, Greece to trace the steps of the Apostle Paul; The isle of Patmos where John wrote the book of Revelation; Kakamega, Africa (just outside of Kenya) to preach and teach at their annual Word World Conference and Paris, France.
At Macedonia, God has blessed us with a great Spiritual, visionary leader. Pastor Henry’s ministry has taught us that, “For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead” (James 2: 26). He fervently preaches and teaches us about strengthening our walk of faith — believing without seeing. We pray God’s continued blessings on Pastor Henry and the awesome, Spirit-filled ministry God blesses him to give and edify at Macedonia. We pray continuously for him, his family and the wellbeing of Macedonia. Truly, God has richly blessed Pastor Henry, but he continues to acknowledge with amazement what God can do with recycled goods.
